10 Best AC/DC Love Songs of All Time, Ranked

AC/DC is one of the most legendary rock bands that has ever existed. They have been making music since 1973, and they are still active to this day. The group initially formed in Sydney, Australia, but since then, the line-up has changed multiple times.

During their five decades, AC/DC produced 17 studio albums, got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and sold over 200 million records worldwide.

This hard-rocking band is not known for their love songs, but there are many love-inspired lyrics in their music. Today, we look at the 10 best AC/DC love songs.

1. Ride On

Album: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Released: 1976

“Ride On” is an AC/DC song unlike any other. Good lyrics, soulful vocals, and an epic guitar solo make it my number-one pick.

The track is a fan favorite from one of their earliest albums, and it has a sad feel with a slow blues style. “Ride On” is also one of the only AC/DC songs labeled as a ballad.

The lyrics talk about a man reflecting on his mistakes in this relationship due to his drinking habit. The song is also well-known for Angus Young’s epic guitar solo.

2. Whole Lotta Rosie

Album: Let There Be Rock
Released: 1977

One of the more popular songs on this love song list is “Whole Lotta Rosie”. The track sold over 200,000 units in the UK alone and made it as high as number 3 on the Netherlands charts 100.

The lyrics are about an overweight woman who the singer, Bon Scott, spent a night with. Despite her size, she was one of the most talented lovers that he had ever been with.

“Whole Lotta Rosie” was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott.

3. You Shook Me All Night Long

Album: Back In Black
Released: 1980

Not only is “You Shook Me All Night Long” one of the best AC/DC love songs, but it is also one of their best songs overall.

The track forms a part of their most successful album, Back In Black. Back In Black is the highest-selling album by any band, with over 50 million copies sold.

This is also the first AC/DC single with Brian Johnson as their lead singer. Sadly, their previous lead singer, Bon Scott, died of alcohol poisoning.

4. Love Song

Album: Backtracks (Deluxe Edition)
Released: 1975

If a song is titled “Love Song”, it has to make the list of best love songs. Unlike most AC/DC songs, this is a much slower song with more of a blues feeling. This is also one of the only AC/DC songs, together with “Ride On”,  that can be considered a ballad.

Angus Young considers this song the most regrettable song that they have ever done, despite him being one of the writers.

5. Walk All Over You

Album: Highway To Hell
Released: 1979

Although “Walk All Over You” is a relatively underrated AC/DC song, I feel it perfectly captures everything there is to love about the band.

The opening has blasting drums with a powerful guitar until Bon Scott comes through with his iconic vocals.

This song is inspired by love, but it rocks so hard, and the lyrics are so rough that it can hardly be called a traditional love song.

6. Baby, Please Don’t Go

Album: ’74 Jailbreak
Released: 1975

“Baby, Please Don’t Go” was originally written by the blues musician Big Joe Williams. AC/DC included it in their first studio album, High Voltage, which was only released in Australia. They later included the track in their extended play record, ‘74 Jailbreak.

As the title suggests, the lyrics talk about a lover who is leaving the singer and he is begging her to stay.

7. Hard as a Rock

Album: Ballbreaker
Released: 1995

“Hard as a Rock” is another AC/DC track that combines the best of rock and blues. Brian Johnson does a fantastic job with the vocals, while Angus Young tears it up on guitar, as always.

The track reached the number-one spot on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks Billboard. It also earned high points on charts in Finland, Netherlands, Norway, and Australia.

Although the lyrics are not the most romantic (at all), this is the AC/DC version of a love song.

8. Girls Got Rhythm

Album: Highway To Hell
Released: 1979

“Girls Got Rhythm” talks about how many girls the singer has seen, but how one girl stands out among them and how she knocks him off his feet. This is about as romantic as a hard-rocking band gets.

The track is underrated, but many fans claim it to be one of their favorite AC/DC songs. That being said, it did not reach the top of any charts.

9. Love at First Feel

Album: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Released: 1977

“Love at First Feel” is another rock ‘n roll banger written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott. The track was released in Australia in 1977 but only released in America in 1981.

The lyrics talk about how the singer fell in love as soon as he felt his beloved for the first time. It is a play on the famous “love at first sight” saying.

10. Let Me Put My Love Into You

Album: Back In Black
Released: 1980

Another classic rock song in the traditional AC/DC style. Also, from their album, Back In Black which was released shortly after Brian Johnson replaced the late Bon Scott as lead singer.

“Let Me Put My Love Into You” was written by Malcolm Young, Angus Young, and Brian Johnson.
